This document describes four types of radiation detectors: photographic film which uses the effect of radiation on film to measure exposure; ionization chambers which measure ion pairs produced in a gas-filled chamber; scintillation counters which detect light produced when particles collide with a scintillating material; and spark counters which detect sparks produced by ionizing particles in a gas-filled chamber.
