1. Why is it important to understand second language acquisition?

First things first, the language input that students get appears to be the main factor influencing SLA. The more
time students spend reading on their own will and the longer they are immersed in the language they are learning,
the more accomplished learners will become. It is important to study second language acquisition for the reason
that you will be aware of all the benefits that you can get when you learn a second language. Lastly, it is essential
for us because it would also open portals to easily explore other cultures and also understanding this thing will
help us realize all the benefits of understanding the said acquisition and how it feeds our cognitive skills.

2. What are the implications of Krashen’s theory?

The implications of Krashen's theory is that, The Krashen's theory can pique students' interest in enhancing the
caliber of input in the classroom, lessen anxiety, and help students recognize their listening and all-around
communicative skills. Also, recognizes that more understandable input helps learners learn more quickly.
Conversely, a lack of understandable input hinders language learning. For instance, the reason total immersion
language teaching works so effectively is because it offers a lot of intelligible input.

3. What are the limitations of Krashen’s theory?

The theory's limitation is that each of Krashen's hypotheses suffers from major problems, including poorly defined
or difficult-to-define terminology, unmotivated constructions, a lack of empirical support, which makes them

overall weakness was the presentation of mere hypotheses as empirical facts and using them prematurely as a
basis for drawing pedagogical implications.

4. Explain the idea of comprehensible input in second language acquisition. Present a concrete example to solidify your
idea.

Comprehensible input is understandable by listeners, even if they do not fully comprehend all the words and
sentence structures, it is known as comprehensible input. If it can barely be understood, it is said to be one level
above the learners' level. for example when an instructor presents a video of a person who is interviewing a
legendary person. The fact that the student will comprehend it as a normal discussion between two individuals and
learn new vocabulary and practical phrases makes it comprehensible input.

5. What is the difference between learning the language and acquiring the language? Present a concrete example to
solidify your idea.

Learning a language involves being familiar with its structure, sound system, and other aspects. The majority of it
is an intellectual exercise. while on the other hand, language acquisition refers to the process of inadvertently and
preferably unconsciously absorbing the sound system and structure of a target language. For example, in language
acquisition, a child may correctly learn the word "beaten" (past tense of "beat"), and later on use the word
"beated". Eventually, the child will typically go back to using the correct word, "beaten" while in language
learning, it is a childs (something like) formal process such as in school where they get to learn the structures, and
all the aspects of a certain language where a teacher is teaching all about the English language to his/her students.

6. Krashen said that we acquire language in only one way, this is when we understand it. Do you agree or disagree on this?

Krashen said that we acquire language in only one way, this is when we understand it. Yes I strongly agree with
her statement for the reason that as long as we understand the language acquisition, we can learn even only
through one way. We cannot understand a certain language if we don't know how to deal with it.. Thus, We
acquire language when we understand what people tell us, not how they say it but what they say. Or when we
understand what we read.
