 An earthquake is a weak to violent shaking of the ground produced by the sudden


movement of rock materials below the earth's surface. The earthquakes originate in
tectonic plate boundary.

 Earthquakes are the result of sudden movement along faults within the Earth.

3. What is plate tectonics?

 A theory explaining the structure of the earth's crust and many associated phenomena
as resulting from the interaction of rigid lithospheric plates which move slowly over the
underlying mantle.

 Seafloor spreading or Seafloor spread is a process that occurs at mid-ocean ridges,


where new oceanic crust is formed through volcanic activity and then gradually moves
away from the ridge
