BEFORE USING, MAKE SURE THIS HARD COPY IS THE LATEST ISSUE.
3. Applicability
A. Refer to Figure 201, Sheet 1 for the primary exhaust nozzle and centerbody applicability.
B. This repair is applicable when:
(1) The maximum length of the crack is 152 mm (6.0 in), cumulative per component (one in the
exhaust nozzle and one in the centerbody).
(2) The minimum distance between weld repairs is 76.2 mm (3.0 in).
4. Damage Limits and Repair Instructions
A. Table 201 below gives the damage limits and repair instructions.

5. Weld Repair - Checking

A. Post Weld Process - Inspection:
(1) Inspect surface discoloration.
(2) Perform GVI of welded area to determine if the weld repair is acceptable per AWS D17.1.
NOTE: Weld quality must be as per Class A acceptance criteria.
B. Post weld process – Stress Relief:
(1) Vacuum is the only acceptable atmosphere to stress relief the Nozzle and Centerbody.
(2) Ensure components are fully disassembled/removed from the Nozzle and/or Centerbody
before stress relief procedures.

HARD COPY IS UNCONTROLLED. ONCE PRINTED, THIS PAGE MUST NOT BE RETAINED FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.
(3) Place component in suitable oven with the forward edge down on a flat plate to reduce
distortion.
(4) Increase temperature of the part to 607 to 635 °C (1350 +/- 25 °F) and hold for 30 minutes,
minimum.

BEFORE USING, MAKE SURE THIS HARD COPY IS THE LATEST ISSUE.
C. Post-weld process – Inspection (After Stress Relief):
(1) Perform radiographic inspection on the repair welds as per ASTM E 1742.
NOTE: Weld quality must be as per AWS D17.1 Class A acceptance criteria.
D. Post-Weld process - Smooth out the exterior surface.
(1) Grind weld bead to 0.127 mm (+0.005 in) to flush the repair.
(2) Be careful not to grind into parent material.
(3) Prevent discoloration by not overheating part.
(4) Dress the weld to a surface finish of 125 RMS.
