1.

log-line: an aspiring screenwriter loses his sanity while

trying to write the 'perfect' script.

1 INT. MOVIE THEATER / AMEER'S DREAM - NIGHT 1

The ENDING SHOT of a FILM plays on the theater screen.
There's a good number of audience filling the theater.
We find AMEER (30s), sitting among the audience and watching
the film. His face lit up in the light reflected from the
movie screen.
On the movie screen, the text "WRITTEN AND DIRECTED BY AMEER"
appears.
The audience applauds and cheers.
This is an EXHILARATING moment for Ameer. His eyes are filled
with tears of joy.
CUT TO:

2 INT. LIVING ROOM (APARTMENT BUILDING) - DAY 2

Ameer, lying on the couch, WAKES UP from the DREAM. His
phone's alarm BUZZES.
Ameer turns off the alarm.

3 INT. BEDROOM - DAY 3

Ameer sits at a table. He opens his laptop and turns it ON.

The room is messy with stubbed cigarettes... leftovers of
store bought food... an empty beer bottle...

The wall behind Ameer is covered with posters of various

critically acclaimed films from all over the world.
CLOSE UP on Ameer's face. He stares blankly at the laptop
screen.
Reveal the laptop screen -- An MS Word file opened, which
reads:
"UNTITLED
Written by

Ameer"
Ameer opens a new page in the word file, he types in "INT."
He continues to stare at the screen.
He deletes the "INT." and types in "EXT."
He clicks his tongue.
Sighs.

4 INT. KITCHEN - DAY 4

Ameer opens the fridge and stares inside for a while.
He closes the fridge and walks to the kitchen drawer. He
opens the drawer to find a pack of noodles inside.
CUT TO:
The noodles are kept for boiling in the stove.
CUT TO:
Ameer, while brushing his teeth, takes the noodles pan out of
the stove and transfers the noodles into a plate.

5 INT. LIVING ROOM - DAY 5

A stray cat sits on the floor. Ameer strokes the cat and
places a small bowl of noodles for it. The cat starts to eat.

Ameer turns on the TV and sits on the couch.

Ameer picks up the remote and clicks on a button.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly starts playing in the TV.
Ameer sits on the couch and starts eating from his plate
while staring at the TV.
CUT TO:

The TV now plays the part where UGLY stands with a dead
chicken in his hand.
THE UGLY
(from the film)

Ameer has finished eating. His empty plate lies on the couch.
He watches the film like a passionate film student.

MAN (O.S)
(voice from a phone)

6 INT. BALCONY - NOON 6

Ameer is smoking a cigarette and is in the middle of a
conversation with a MAN on his phone.

AMEER
I wasn't making any progress dude...
I couldn't finish it. So baaki
ezhuthanda enn vachu
MAN
(from the phone)
Eda... athentha angana
theerumaaniche? Tsk... ath
vendaarnn. You were halfway through
right? Baaki koodi ezhuthaarnille?

AMEER
Yeah... but enikk oru perfect ending

scenes onnum enikk athrakk
convincing allann thonni. So...
MAN

AMEER

want to nail it. And I think
gangster genre is not my thing. So
I'm starting over.

MAN

yourself.

AMEER

7 INT. LIVING ROOM - NOON 7

Ameer, with his head supported by the palm, sits in front of

his laptop, looking at a web article about Screenwriting
Tips.
He closes the article and opens his UNTITLED script on MS
Word.

He taps his fingers on the table.

The clock in the room starts to tick in the background.

SERIES OD SHOTS:

- Ameer sits with his finger tips together, rapidly shaking

his legs.

- Ameer slowly feels the keyboard keys with his fingers. He

wants to badly type something.

- Ameer scratches his chin... he rests his chin over his

hands.

- Few hours have passed. Ameer rubs his eyes, he is tired of

staring at the laptop screen.

- Ameer walks around the room, thinking and rubbing his

palms.

- It's evening. Ameer sits clicking a pen. His laptop is

closed. Few A4 size papers lie on the table.
- Ameer writes on the paper "INT. RANDOM BAR - NIGHT"

- Ameer scratches his head.

- Ameer writes a few sentences.

Aeer clicks his tongue.

Ameer strikes off everything that he wrote. He crumples the
paper and throws it on the floor.

- Ameer rubs his face.

END SERIES OF SHOTS

EVENING

Ameer smokes a cigarette and slouches on his chair. Lots of

crumples papers lie on the floor.

Ameer gets a call on his phone. He looks at the caller ID. HE

puts out his cigarette and picks up the call.

AMEER
Aah amma para...

MOTHER
(from the phone)

A beat.
MOTHER
