Teacher Leadership Experiences and Future Goals

Leadership Experiences
● Consistently advocate for diverse text approval with the DEI team to ensure that students
are able to experience stories from all cultures.
● Was named Senior Class Advisor for our hybrid program, which entails college
preparation and senior activity leadership.
● Was voted (by students) to be the teacher speaker at graduation in June of 2022 and
performed an original spoken word poem in front of nearly one thousand people.
● Co-ran American Experience Night, which amplified the diversity within the American
Experience by bringing the community of students, teachers, and parents together to
share their stories at the podium.
● Manage TAs and train them to hold office hours and study sessions of their own to guide
the underclassmen.
● Have run a multitude of student clubs including Jam Band (teaching students to play in a
rock band), Mindfulness Club (helping student leaders to organize mindfulness activities
for other students), and currently Sing-A-Grams (a Valentine’s week fundraiser to support
domestic violence relief).
● Advocated for schedule changes, official office hours times, study hall, and other ways
for students to access teachers in our relatively new hybrid program.
● Create and implement games for the program’s Town Hall Tournament of the grades.

Future Goals
● Mentor teachers in the future to utilize strategies for creatively using writing in class
(inside and outside of English Language Arts).
○ Mentoring other teachers can reduce stress levels and increase community

○ NBPTS: 5 (Utilizing professional communities)
○ TLMD Domain 3 (Professional development and continued improvement)
● Take a more official role in the College Readiness Department, so I can guide more
students through personal narrative writing and post-high school decisions.
○ Ensuring that students are prepared for what comes after high school is a
privilege, but it should be accessible for all students College Readiness

● Open a writing center in the school.
○ There are so many benefits to having a campus writing center: Writing Center

○ TLMD Domain 1 (Foster a collaborative culture to promote student learning)
● Coordinate student travel experiences that span across the globe.
● Advocate for our hybrid program to expand our reach across LA county.
