The formal school education system in Vietnam is divided into three levels. The first and foremost
level is primary school starting from the age of six and lasting five years. The next level is lower secondary
within four years, which is followed by three years at upper secondary school. Besides, It is compulsory to
spend nine years for primary and lower secondary level. In Vietnam, an academic year will take each
student thirty-five weeks, in other words, nine months between September and May. Each school year
includes two terms. The first term is from September to December; and the latter term is from January to
May. After May, students will have a summer vacation. This period is also the time for high-school students
to prepare for the national entrance examination to university which officially take places in early July.

The formal school education system in Vietnam includes 2 levels: primary and secondary education.
Children usually start primary school at the age of six. This level lasts 5 years. When they are eleven years
old, they can move to lower secondary school lasting 4 years. Both of these stage are compulsory. To get a
place at upper secondary school, students have to take an recruitment exam. High school which lasts 3 years,
is optional. The academy year which lasts 35 weeks, runs from September to May. It is divided into two
terms. The first term ends in January, the second one finishes in May before a long summer vacation.
However, if students want to complete Grade 12, they must take the national examination for GCSE, the
requirement to go to university or college. It often takes place at the end of June or the beginning of July.
The exam grade is used as the first entry requirement to go to most of universities or colleges in Vietnam.

family. The first is structure of family. A traditional Vietnamese family was usually an extended family,

second is the role of  family members. In a traditional family, the father takes all responsibilities for the

The most vital decision I have made was when I was at grade eleven: either studying at home, or

I am studying at Hung Vuong high school which is one of the most popular schools in the city and I
had to be accepted in the admission test before I actually started studying here. 
The school is a 4 stories building and there are approximately 300 students and 40 teachers in this
school. I love the way teachers behave with us, the very interesting way they teach us, the play-ground and
my class mates. We have a big hall room where we gather during the break and enjoy gossiping with
friends. 
Things I do not like about the school are only few and among them the noise produced by the nearby
road. Besides, I hate the fact that the class starts from 6:30 am and because of that I have to wake up very
early in the morning. 
I mostly enjoy the time I spend in the school since I have been learning many precious things.

legend. During his journey, he recognizes many clues which show him the right way to the treasure. In an
oasis, he meets and falls in love with Fatima. She encourages him to continue his journey. With the help of
The Alchemist, he arrives to Pyramids and knows where the treasure really exists. The sentence I like most
is "When a person really desires something, all the universe conspires to help that person to realize his
dream". This book gave me motivation to follow my destiny and believe on true love.

work. As time passes, they become estranged by time and distance. Secondly, the majority of this issue is
developing of technology. For example, children use gadgets for a long time even if they stay with their

mindset, it means that one thinks this is better while another thinks differently. This may cause many

I really admire my Grandfather whose life experiences inspired me very much. The war had stolen

Thanks to the development of technology, more and more devices have been invented to serve
human beings’ need like cell phones, computer, or television, etc. In my point of view, students should not
be allowed to have cell phones in secondary and high schools for some reasons. Firstly, that children use
mobile phones will influence on their studies. Students do not follow what the teacher has just said while
they are typing message or going out class to make a phone call. These make students’ study quality lower.
In addition, the abuse of using cell phone will affect the overall health of students, especially their brains. A
mobile phone is designed to transmit radio waves in order to find a signal, this is likely to increase the risk
of brain cancer. As far as I am concerned, mobile phones have a lot negative effects on youngsters, parents

No one on this earth could deny the fact that parents are the messengers of god. I firmly believe that I
am really blessed to have such supporting parents. They are the treasure hunt of knowledge. I personally

Right from childhood, they teach us in each and every phase of life. When we are kids, they train us
in all kinds of activities crawling, walking and talking. During the schooling, they educate us on the difficult

aspirations. They teach us what is good and what is bad.

culture and traditions of our region. They advise us in many tough situations. In my opinion, a teacher is not
someone who merely teaches us how to read, write and to gain an academic degree. Rather this person

emphasis and effort that a teacher we find in our school. In our life, we learn about life from our parents
