ACTIVITY 3

The past world wars really did shape the world we are living in now. Hardships and
distress were faced each day as people involved had no choice but to fight for themselves.
Millions of people, soldiers and civilians, lost their lives as a result of the wars most people
never even wanted. Sacrifices had been made just to keep the dice rolling. Unknowingly,
people those days were shaping up the future, which no one could have even imagined.
The aftermaths of wars had taught people to efficiently work with something they’ve
been deprived. One of the most significant impacts of world war was the huge advances in
technology. It transformed in a way that people around the world travelled and
communicated with less effort. Not to mention the significant innovations of different
country weapons including bombs, fighter planes, and even submarines. Medical units were
not as useful as soon as they had realized it was essential in winning wars. Infections were
very numerous and difficult to control due to lack of hygiene in the urgency of wars, the large
number of injuries of all kinds, and the wide range of hard-to-treat conditions that grew out
of the situation. These were all the things that had happen before they realized different
revolutionary emergency-care techniques which we are still doing today. Also, up until the
ward, women were perceived in a certain way in society. Their role was traditionally stay in
home. Issues like politics and war were very much seen as things for men to deal with.
Women weren’t even allowed to do jobs of men did. They even had inequality in terms of
wages and the skills they were allowed to learn. As the war continued that time, it was
women who took the men’s jobs. This was the very main implication that earned women
respect up until this day forward. The contribution made by women during the war was seen
as an important reason and gave power to even change the law regarding genders. And
finally, wars after wars, the world has founded the United Nations (UN) and World Health
Organization (WHO). UN was a controversial organization from the start as it encouraged
disarmament, promoted human rights, fought poverty and promoted peace worldwide. It’s
pursuit of stability and global efforts led to the creation of WHO. Both have a big impact in
running the modern world today, and these were surprisingly the effect of the world wars
humans endured for centuries. We must always be reminded that the heaven we live in today
was once hell to everyone. “In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity.” – Sun Tzu.
