Pricing Strategy:

Ebooks have such a wide range of prices and there is no specific formula to
determine price because of the wide spectrum. There are not many products in the
market similar to this so it really is based on what P4H determines is the best pricing
strategy. Based on what we’ve been told by the CFO, we would suggest that the pricing
of services like these could be anywhere from $300-$1500. The biggest factor to
determine which price to select would be what can help P4H create a substantial source
of revenue to grow P4H. The ultimate goal of this is to grow P4H so whatever that price
is would be the price we recommend. Also, we recognize that there is a wide spectrum
of size and resources available for nonprofit organizations. With that being said, the
price should not be a fixed rate. The price should be negotiable and can change based
on what the nonprofit is able to give.

Copyright:

A copyright protects the ownership over a piece of work, that includes music, art,
literary works, etc. It differs from a trademark in that a trademark protects ownership of
a word, phrase, or design. It also differs from a patent because patents are mainly used
for a technology like a pharmaceutical drug or machinery. However, copyright,
trademarks, and patents are all categorized under the umbrella of Intellectual Property.
Copyrights are registered through the U.S. Copyright Office. Copyrights protect the
owner to be able to distribute or reproduce whatever is copyrighted. For example, song
lyrics are copyrighted to give the owner exclusive rights to the work while being able to
distribute that work. Copyrights last for the lifetime of the owner plus 70 years in
addition.
As the owner of a copyrighted work, there are a number of exclusive rights that
the owner has over the copyrighted work. Those rights include:

1. Reproduce the copyrighted work in copies or phonorecords

2. Prepare derivative works based upon the copyrighted work
3. Distribute copies or phonorecords of the copyrighted work to the public by sale or
other transfer of ownership, or by rental, lease, or lending
4. Perform the copyrighted work publicly
a. Mainly for literary, musical, dramatic, choreographic works, pantomimes,
and motion pictures
5. Display the copyrighted work publicly
a. Mainly for literary, musical, dramatic, choreographic works, pantomimes,
and motion pictures
6. Perform the copyrighted work publicly by means of a digital audio transmission
a. For sound recordings

With all of these exclusive rights, the owner of the copyrighted material is able to sell
that material without a license. A license is mainly used when you are not the owner of
the copyrighted material. With that being said, if P4H is the owner of the copyrighted
work, a license is not necessary to be able to sell that work.
