Interpreting Geohazard Map
The use of Geohazard maps is to be able to inform local officials of the susceptibility of their
areas, it contains information developed by the MGB and it can be seen as specialized maps as
they can identify various kinds of hazards that may cause more damage to the situation if not
taken care of properly. Geohazard maps are very useful when it comes to preparing for a
possible disaster and management. To be able to learn how to read geohazard maps is a very
good and important skill, it does not matter how careful and prepared we are for such
situations to come, since something unexpected may always come, and it is always a benefit to
learn something new and important, and especially when it comes to protecting yourself and
your family from danger.

There is no high susceptibility of landsides that can be seen on the map, there are no
mountainous areas that have steep slopes. There are no areas with moderate susceptibility to
landslides. There is a very large part of the area on the map that can be seen that has a low
susceptibility to landslides. There are areas with high susceptibility to flooding, and it is because
it is next to the sea, where water can easily cause a flood and may even cause a tsunami that
can cause a more tragic event. There are no areas that can be seen on the map that have
moderate to low susceptibility to flooding. There are no areas that are considered generally
safe during heavy rain, as can be seen on the map, and there are no areas with low
susceptibility to both flooding and landslide.

A close relative of ours is living in Apas, Cebu City, and thankfully she is not living in a
susceptible rain-induced landslide area, she is thankfully living in a safe area, with a low
landslide susceptibility. My relative’s place is not living in an area located that is susceptible to
floods, she is living in a safe area, away from any susceptibility to landslides or flooding, though
she is still a few distances away from high landslide susceptibility, she is fortunately in a safe
area.
