RULES FOR THE THIRD PERSON SINGULAR


(Only affirmative sentences)

• Add the letter “S” to verbs


Call → Calls Pamela calls Jorge.
Drink → Drinks He drinks water.
Water → Waters Jorge waters the plants.
Milk → Milks Luis milks cows.

• Add the letters "ES" to verbs that end in (O -X – Z – S – SS – SH -CH)


Go → Goes Norma goes to the park.
Fix → Fixes Fausto fixes the car.
Watch → Watches She watches TV.

• When the word ends in the letter "Y" we add the letters "IES"
Study → Studies María studies Italian.
Try → Tries Diego tries to buy a house. Note: We use this rule with verbs
Cry → Cries Mary cries for him. that end in a consonant and "Y".
Enjoy → Enjoys Paola enjoys buying clothes.

• Have → HAS
Have → has Veronica has a house
Ney has a flat
Estefania has a husband

• We do not put the letter "S" to modal verbs
