Society and Culture influences an individual's thinking, attitude, and behavior. Culture has
expectations about how its members should and should not behave. There is always a guideline
or an expectation for behavior. Society makes up its own rules for behavior and decides when
those rules have been violated and what to do about it. And to answer the question, culture or
society is not sufficient to rely on as the foundation of good and bad because there are things
that are unrelated to culture but related to our own values. For instance, culture tells me to
follow social norms but that’s against my principle, so I won’t do it. Is it right or wrong? In my
point of view, it’s good because that’s my principle. So sometimes it's up to us, or to decide
what we should do.
Ethos, pathos and logos are modes of persuasion used to convince and appeal to an audience.
Ethos establishes the writer's credibility, logos appeals to the audience's reason, and pathos
appeals to their emotions. They work together, overlapping to strengthen the argument. Also,
you need these qualities for your audience to accept your messages.
3. Why is it crucial to comprehend the essence of our freedom? What role does freedom play in
realizing our true potential as humans?
Freedom shapes one's own life. Human freedom is a force for growth and maturity in truth and
goodness. However, according to my knowledge, wrong choices in the exercise of freedom is
not freedom at all, it is but an illusion. Definitely, freedom has a limitation, which is to choose the
right choices, choose the good choice. That’s why we need to comprehend the essence of
freedom, to free ourselves from things and situations that prevent us from living a better life.
On the other hand, freedom plays a vital role in Human Development. Human development
means to expand human choices, which requires the freedom concept. So freedom is an
essential instrument to achieve the most important factor of welfare improvement, which is
Human’s potential.
