Ukraine to receive 120-140 tanks in ‘first wave’ of deliveries: Minister

According to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Ukraine would acquire between 120
and 140 Western-model tanks in the first round of deliveries from a coalition of 12 nations,
including Germany Britain, and the USA. The tanks will aid in defense against a Russian invasion,
although no delivery date has been specified. Kyiv is attempting to increase the coalition members’
contributions and bring in new ones. The US has encouraged Ukraine to hold off on mounting a
counteroffensive to retake land that Russia has occupied until it receives military support from the
West. Ukraine is also concerned about a potential massive Russian offensive that could happen
anytime soon.

At face value, the delivery of tanks from the West to Ukraine would not create any direct effect
towards the Philippines, as the Philippines is acting as a neutral party with respective to the
belligerent states in the war on Ukraine. However, there are indirect effects to the Philippines as
these tanks could be crucial in turning the tide of the war in Ukraine and it would trickle down to
whomsoever would come out on top of this war. This delivery could be considered a pivotal point
in the foreseeable or unforeseeable future whenever one side would have an upper-hand in the war.
Whomsoever would win this war could affect the relations with the Philippines and it would have
drastic effects as to how the Philippines would approach such a shift in international relations.
