SCIENCE EXPERIMENT

Title of the
Sink or Float: Densities of Liquids
Experiment
● Plastic cup
● Water
● Food coloring
● Oil
Materials ● Syrup
● Metal nut
● Bottle cap
● Grape
● Sponge

1. Grab a clear cup and pour some water along with the food
coloring.
2. Pour some syrup.
3. FIll the glass with oil then let the layers settle.
Methodology/ 4. For the next phase, drop the metal nut.
Procedure 5. Next, take the grape and drop it in.
6. Take the bottle cap and drop it in.
7. Take the sponge and drop it.

The significant results and findings of the experiment are as follows:

Results and ● 1. The liquids are separated in layers.

Discussion ● 2. The objects are placed on different layers.
● 3. The liquids did not mix.

The researchers have come to the conclusion that immiscible

liquids that have different densities will separate into different layers.
The liquid that has the highest density, syrup, will sink to the bottom
Conclusion and the liquid that has the lowest density, oil, will rise to the top. This
also applies to the objects that were put in the liquids. The denser
the object, the more it sink through the different layers of liquid.
