IPSF Co-ordinator and Sub-committee positions 2011-12


Co-ordinators and Subcommittees work under the IPSF Executive Committee and their work is more specific to certain activities. These positions require little travelling, but it is strongly recommended to attend the IPSF World Congress 2012 in Egypt and that you attend your subcommittee meeting if one is scheduled. You should be able to work on a daily basis throughout the year in your position and have regular internet access. Co-ordinator positions have different busy times or seasons, but you must be reachable throughout your entire term. If you are interested in a particular position listed here, you should contact the relevant IPSF Executive (contact below) before the deadline for applications. HIV/AIDS Awareness Co-ordinator IPSF has six Public Health co-ordinator positions to be filled each year one for each of the official Public Health areas of IPSF. These are: Anti-counterfeit Drugs, Healthy Living and Diabetes, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Tuberculosis, Tobacco Alert, and Humanitarian. The Public Health co-ordinators work under the direction of the Chairperson of Public Health to promote their determined area of Public Health and encourage and support IPSF members around the world to undertake successful Public Health campaigns. The period leading up to the dedicated Public Health day for each Public Health area is a particularly busy time for the coordinators. They will be required to help the Chairperson of Public Health to compile a special edition of the IPSF Newsletter to be sent to all Members, disseminate updated information on the Public Health topic and stimulate discussion between IPSF members within the IPSF e-groups. In addition to the specific Public Health day activities, the co-ordinators are expected to support IPSF Members year-round in organising Public Health campaigns and activities. The co-ordinators will also help the Chairperson of Public Health with organising the Public Health workshops to be run at the IPSF World Congress. In addition, IPSF also recruits other general sub-committee members to support the work of IPSF in the field of Public Health. Patient Counselling Event (PCE) Co-ordinator This position is under the Chairperson of Professional Development. Your tasks are to: Organise PCE at the IPSF World Congress and Regional Symposia Assist IPSF Members to organise their national and local PCE Further development of PCE, and generally patient counselling concept in IPSF. Supervise in the development of the new PCE booklet You should have experience in organising PCE by yourself and rather deep understanding of modern patient counselling. You should also be able to travel to IPSF World Congress in Egypt, August 2012 while it is not necessary to attend Regional Symposia. In addition you should have a regular access to e-mails to be able to correspondence with World Congress and Regional Symposia Reception Committees and IPSF members. Pharmacy Profession Awareness Campaign (PPAC) Co-ordinator The PPAC Coordinator will be assisting the Chairperson of Professional Development portfolio, namely: Liaising with IPSF member associations to help formulate ideas for IPSF Members PPAC campaigns including high school, future career and public awareness campaigns

Formulate formal guidelines and/or materials on how to host a successful PPAC campaigns for Member organisations Collate news from various PPAC events across Member organisations and promote them through IPSF channels for other Members to engage in.

Phuture Co-ordinator Phuture is the name of IPSF's educational supplement that is compiled by the Chairperson of Pharmacy Education and published each year. A new position has been created this year to help the Chairperson of Pharmacy Education to assist with the compilation of the same. The duties of the Co-ordinator shall include editing and screening of the articles received for publication in Phuture, identifying authors and requesting them for articles on topics of interest, liaison with the Chairperson of Media and Publications and designated members of the Editorial Board for designing, printing and publication of the magazine. Development Fund Committee DF Committee needs three members that should come preferably from high income countries to prevent any conflict of interest with DF applicants. The main task of the members is to review grant applications for DF congress grants, SEP grant and other DF grants. In addition, committee members will assist in other relevant tasks too. You should have a regular internet connection for this position. Time commitment varies depending on the time of the year, the period between January and April is the busiest. Editorial Board The Editorial Board works under the Chairperson of Media and Publications and its main tasks are to translate the Annual Bulletin, IPSF Newsletters or any other articles from English into the official IPSF languages (Arabic, French or Spanish). The board also proof-reads articles that are in English. The Editorial Board may occasionally need to help translate other documents or messages if necessary. The nature of the work is seasonal and the working peak is before the publication of the Annual Bulletin (January March). Approximately two or three translators per language (Arabic, French and Spanish) are needed and an additional four to five English proof-readers may be required. The Editorial Board
