1.

Write an exponential function to represent the spread of Ben's social

media posts.

Ben's exponential function that represents this f(x)=2(3) and x represents the
number of days.

2. Write an exponential function to represent the spread of Carter's social

media posts.

The exponential function that represents f(x)=10(2) and you let x represent the
number of days.

3. Graph each function using at least three points for each curve. All graphs should be
placed together on the same coordinate plane, so be sure to label each curve. You
may graph your equation by hand on a piece of paper and scan your work, or you may
use graphing technology.
4. Using the functions for each student, predict how many shares each
student's post will be received on Day 3 and then on Day 10. Justify your
answers.

For Ben the function is: f(x) = 2(3) to the third power = 2(27) = 54. f(x) = 2(3) to the
tenth power = 118,098.
Which means Ben with have 54 shares on day 3 and 118,098 on the tenth day.
For Carter the function is: f(x) = 10(2) to the third power = 10(8) = 80. f(x) = 10(2)
to the tenth power = 10,240. Which means Carter will have 80 shares on day 3
and will have 10,240 shares on the 10th day.
For Amber the function is: f(x) = 3(4) to the third power = 3(64) = 192. f(x) = 3(4)
to the tenth power = 3,145,728. Which means Amber had 192 shares on day 3
and 3,145,728 shares on day 10.

5. If Amber decides to mail copies of her photo to the 45 residents of her grandmother's assisted
living facility, the new function representing her photo shares is f(x) = 3(4) x + 45. How does this
graph compare with the original graph of Amber's photo share?

It will have the same curve as Amber's original graph but will be 45 units above
the original graph.

6. Based on your results, which students' post travels the fastest? How is
this shown in the equation form of the functions?
When we look at the graph, we can see that Amber's posts travel the fastest since Amber's base was
four we can see as shown on the graph that it will be the highest.
7. If you had to choose, would you prefer a post with fewer friends initially
but more shares, like Amber, or more friends initially but fewer shares?
Justify your answer with your calculations from previous questions.

I would rather have fewer shares because I enjoy my privacy. Unlike Amber who
gets a ton of shares. I would like to get as many shares as Ben but maybe even
less because I enjoy the stuff that I post to stay private.
