INTRODUCTION

A travelogue is a diary of a person’s journey to another place. It is both a narrative story

describing personal experiences and a collection of factual details that other travelers would find

useful. It incorporates practical advice, vivid descriptions, actionable information, and genuine

emotion.

Fear is only temporary. Regrets last forever

Read this quote again. And then read it again, and again, until these words sink in.

Fear is one of the biggest deterrents in all aspects of life, including traveling. But

what we should be fearing more than fear itself is regret. I’ve found that the most

interesting, culturally-enriching vacations are often the most uncomfortable. I’m

scared of flying .
Kerala is peaceful state in INDIA , where every tourist wants to enjoy its

breathtaking nature, historical buildings, delicious food, and traditional paces.

Well it is always a good idea to make all your bookings in advance since, with the

tourism in India picking up every year, there are chances that you might get hotels

fully booked even in the off season. This is the reason why we also had all our

bookings in advance on https://www.makemytrip.com/holidays-india/kerala-travel-

packages.html

We had planned our visit like this:-Arrival at Kochi airport and leaving for

Munnar,Munnar-2 Nights Varkala -1Night ,Kozhikode -1 Night,Alleppey-1

Night,Kanyakumari-1 Night,Kovalam-2 Nights, departure from Trivandrum

We arrived at the Kochi airport, one of the finest airports in the country, at around

2:30 PM on 25th April 2016 . We were welcomed by Mr. George who was our

travel guide for the trip. The first halt ,in our journey to Munnar , was for lunch.

It is very surprising that today most of the restaurants in Kerala offer all types of

cuisines, since they have to cater to the needs of tourists from across India . The

traffic across this road has increased in the last few years and hence it may take 5-

6 hours to reach Munnar instead of normal 4 hours. The route to Munnar just lets

you enjoy the cool breeze and rain showers among the green surroundings. You

could also enjoy the beautiful serene waterfalls along your way.

We reached Munnar around 6:45 PM and were totally surprised to see the clouds

descending down the valley of tea-plantations. It was an amazing experience. It

was getting dark very quickly and the visibility was also diminishing fast. The

place of our stay at Munnar was the "Deshadan Mountain Resort" ,the highest

located resort in Munnar. Our excitement and anxiety was growing as with every

turn on the road we were climbing to that highest resort!.

And the next moment, we took a bus for Varkala. Don’t you love it when impromptu plans work

out? I do.

Changing two different buses, we reached Varkala. Reviews showed that the place will have

more foreigners than Indians. And it was actually true.

We were lucky enough to get a decent room at just 600 INR. We freshened up and headed for the

beach-side restaurant for dinner. Sizzlers, prawns and juice, and we were already full. Along the

beach, there are a series of restaurants and we randomly entered one of them.

It has to be the best, out of all the beaches, I’ve seen till date. We had no second thoughts on

NOT getting into the waters. Like kids, we splashed around and just enjoyed the course

Life In The Backwaters Of Alleppey,

I expected Alleppey to be different. It was more secluded and calmer than I thought. I thought it

would be more touristy and would have more vibe. Anyways thanks to that, I liked it even better.

Our Lake and Paddy Resort was near the place where the bus stopped, we took an auto, by far

the best option in Kerala. Even then I could see that they were charging a bit more for us than

locals. The place was economical but beautiful. Total value for money. There was lot of space

and we were the only guests there. The host too was a pretty cool guy and was really helpful.
Ethnic houses of Kerala architecture in the region was adding the beauty to the views of the

backwaters. Exciting views of people walking along the narrow paths between Lake and paddy

fields, kids playing in paddy fields, ladies cleaning fish to prepare dishes for lunch, toddy

shops, small shops made with wooden planks and smell of amazing Sea Food.

Alappuzha is one of the exotic places in Kerala because its scenic coastal stretches, beautiful

backwaters and serene paddy fields. fields, kids playing in paddy fields, ladies cleaning fish to

prepare dishes for lunch, toddy shops, small shops made with wooden planks and smell of

amazing Sea Food.

In the evening after finishing our day, we tried to rush to Kappad beach, where Vasco Da Gama

had landed in 1498, to catch the sunset. But we were late for half an hour or so. The beach still

looked beautiful. We tried to click some pics of the beach but could not because of very low

light. We climbed on a rock by the seashore, and just sat there for about an hour or so. The sea

was at high tide and very violent. We could hear the roaring sound of the waves hitting the rock

below us.

Next day we planned to Thusharagiri offers endless scope for trekking, rock climbing and wild

life sanctuary visits. It is around 50 kilometres from Kozhikode. The best roar of Thusharagiri

waterfalls can be enjoyed from September to November

Kottayam is

famous for its three 'L's – Literacy, Lakes, and Latex production. You'll be met with plenty of

ancient temples, serene lakes, and bustling markets here where you can buy authentic Kerala

handicrafts.
Vaikom is one of the popular places around Kottayam mainly due to its variety of tourist

attractions. It is home to some of the most scenic backwaters of Kerala like Kumarakom and

houses rich historical places and heritage temples that add an old-world charm to it

Two of the most offbeat places to visit in Kottayam, Nattakom and Panachikkad are the secluded

villages located mere few kilometres from the main city. These villages are known for their

scenic landscapes, migratory birds, and remarkable reservoirs.

Some of the best temples in the area are based in these villages. Villages of heritage as well as

religious importance, Nattakom and Panachikkad are must-visit places near Kottayam.
It’s no joke that people call Kerala as God’s own country. Every nook and corner of Kerala is

filled with such beauty. But, the place very close to my heart is Wayanad. Visit Wayanad once

and you’ll witness yourself. It is a place full of surprises which is a hill station in the plain

Malabar region of Kerala.

There are a whole lot of places in Wayanad to make you go crazy about the place. Some of the

places to make you stand in awe stricken silence are Edakkal Caves, Soochipara Falls, Pookode

lake, Banasura Sagar Dam, Kuruva Island and so on.

Edakkal Caves

This is the best place for trekking in Wayanad and mostly not suitable for the elderly people.

Soochipara Falls

This is one among the many waterfalls you could see in Wayanad. But this one will be the best.

Kuruva Island This is a beautiful place where you have to walk a bit, cross a river in a fibre boat
The place owns this title because it deserves every bit of it. It is one place that is not only rich in

biodiversity but also rich in its traditional culture. Kerala offered me a relaxing and enlightening

experience, and I’m glad, I made the decision to explore this heavenly paradise, making the most

of it !
