8:00 a.m. Bring your passport, I-94, I-20, and two pencils to register. Also have your credit card, cash, check, or travelers check ready to pay your tuition later in the morning.

August 23, 2011 New Student Orientation


University Union, Silver Eagle Suite 10:30a.m. - 2:00p.m.
Attendance is required. Orientation will include immigration information and health and safety information, as well as IELI academic orientation and cultural orientation. Lunch will be provided. You will receive your placement test result.

9:30 a.m. Your registration leader will take you to your testing room after you finish registration.

Open a Bank Account & Post OfficeSilver Eagle Suite 2:30 p.m. (optional)
If you would like, after the New Student Orientation, walk over to Wells Fargo bank and Post Office with IELI staff. If you live in a dorm, you will need to apply for a post office box at the post office. You will need your passport and student ID card.

Payment and ID cards SYMR/ESSC


11:30 a.m. Walk with your testing group to the ESSC to get your student ID card made and pay tuition fees. After you have done these two things, you are free to get lunch on your own.

Root Beer and Soda FloatsSYMR 260

2:15 p.m. (optional) Relax after your test, enjoy an ice cream float, and meet other new students and teachers at IELI. We hope to see you there!

August 24, 2011 Target Shopping Trip Meet at the corner of Ave. B and
Mulberry St., outside the GAB 10:00 a.m. (optional)
Target is a store where you can buy bedding, food, clothes, electronics, cleaning supplies, and just about anything else you might need. We should be back to campus by 1:00 p.m.

Pohl Student Recreation Center Tour SYMR 260

3 p.m. (optional) If you would like, after the ice cream social, walk over to the Pohl Student Recreation Center for a tour. The Pohl Rec Center is a place where you can exercise your body. There are lap swimming pools, tennis and basketball courts, exercise machines, and a rock climbing wall. All students can use the Pohl Rec Center for free.

Transpo ExpoMeet at the Eagle Statue outside SYMR

2:30 p.m. (optional) Learn how to use public transportation to explore Denton, as well as Dallas and Fort Worth. You will need your student ID card.

Mean Green FlingFouts Field

5:00 p.m.8:00 p.m. (optional) This welcome-back event is for all UNT students and includes free food, giveaways, live entertainment, and other activities. Go with your new friends, or with a group of IELI students (meet at the Eagle Statue outside SYMR at 6:30 p.m.).

August 22August 25 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. visit the IELI Computer Lab in SYMR 224 to get assistance with: activating your UNT EUID and Eagle Connect Account

Go to SYMR 260 between 8 and 8:45 a.m. to pick up your schedule if you will have morning classes. Go to SYMR 260 between 12:15 and 1 p.m. if you will have afternoon classes.

August 27, 2011 North Texas Rodeo Meet at the corner of Ave. B and Mulberry St. outside the GAB 6:00 p.m. (optional)
Meet other new international students on a trip to the North Texas Rodeo. Tickets cost $10. You must register in SYMR 214 by Friday, August 26 at 5:00
