Eagle

Eagle is a large predatory bird from the family of Accipitridae. There are around
60 species of eagle in the world. Some of the most famous eagle in the world
are Bald Eagle, Golden Eagle, Black Eagle, Javan Hawk-Eagle, Steller’s Sea Eagle,
Philippine Eagle and Harpy Eagle. Most of them inhabited some region in
Europe, Asia and Africa. Their keen eyesight along with their powerful talons
have made them to be the apex predators in the avian world. They prey mainly
on small mammals such as rats, squirrel, rabbits and also chicken, fish, snake
and sheep.

Eagles have large body compare to other predatory birds. They have a muscular
body with two very large wings and long tail covered with aerodynamic feathers
which make them a powerful flying predator. They have a large hooked beaks
that they use to rip flesh of their prey. Their keen eyes are located on each side
of the head. They also have two muscular legs with very powerful talons that
allow them to grab their prey tightly and bring it to the air with them.

Each species of Eagles have their own typical appearance, starting from color of
the fur, maximum body size and weight and also some unique features that can
only be found on a specific species only. For example, the smallest species of
eagles, South Nicobar Serpent Eagle, have the maximum size of 40 cm with the
maximum weight of 450 g. They are characterized by their white tipped wings
and yellow fur between the beak and their eyes. Other species may have larger
bodies and wider wings.
