ASSESSMENT 1 (a) – INDIVIDUAL ASSIGNMENT BRIEF (WEIGHTING: 60%)

This is an individual assignment

One of your friends is interested in purchasing commercial property in one of the Asian
countries. However, he couldn't select which country to buy property in and was unfamiliar
with the rules and regulations governing property purchases in various countries.

As a result, he requested you to investigate the following and submit your findings to him.

• Analyze the legal, technical, and commercial aspects of real estate in the chosen
location.
• Critically discuss the selected location's special features, such as free zones and special
economic zones, as well as relevant opportunities and challenges for property buyers.

Based on your findings, your friend will decide where to buy the property.

General Instructions:
1. Use the prescribed format: font – Arial or Calibri, font size 12 and 1.5 spacing; margins – left
1.25, top, bottom and right: 1.0
2. You are required to use academic references to support your work. (Minimum 10). Your
assignment must be supported by relevant academic literature related to your topic. Students
are expected to research various sources including personal experience and observations, and
refer relevant information from textbooks, journal articles, published reports, company
websites, magazines, and newspapers to write this assignment.
3. Do not use third party websites such as Wikipedia, dictonary.com, marketingguru.com,

4. Harvard referencing must be used. Your assignment will not be marked if you failed to
follow the Harvard in-text citation. Resubmission of assessment and the mark is capped at 40.
5. Your assignment should be submitted through Moodle by November 17, 2022 (Week 10).
(Read sections on Assignment Submission and Late Submission in the OTC Undergraduate
Student Handbook for details).
6. The use of unfair means in any form is unacceptable and will be dealt with strictly. You must
read the sections on Academic Offenses in the OTC Undergraduate Student Handbook.

7. Be prepared to present your assignment in front of a committee as 10% of students in the

class will be asked to do so.

8. The word limit does not include the title page, table of contents, abstract, tables, diagrams,
references and appendices. 10 % higher or lower from the prescribed word limit is
acceptable. However, you should note the following with regard to word count regulations.

Your assignment must follow the outline below:

▪ Introduction - Describe your assignment topic and introduce the location.

▪ Discussion - Examine the legal, technological, and commercial elements of the chosen
location's real estate. Discuss the particular qualities of the chosen location, such as free
zones and special economic zones, as well as associated opportunities and challenges for
property buyers.
▪ Conclusion - This part summarises the points discussed and draws together your overall
understanding or findings based on the discussions' identified issues.

Your written assignment will be graded according to the following criteria.
