Solution:
Here, the series are: 1+3+5+7+…….. +125…… (1)
169+171+173+175+……….+209…… (2)
Now,
L.H.S. = 1+3+5+7+…….+125
We know, n-th term = a+(n-1)d
Here, a = 1, d = 3-1 = 5-3 = 2 and n-th term = 125
Now,
1+(n-1)×2= 125 Or, 2(n-1) = 125-1 = 124
Or, n-1 = 62 [Dividing both sides by 2] Or, n = 62+1 n = 63
We know, sum of n-th term = {2a+(n-1)d}
Sum of 63rd = {2×1+(63-1)×2} = ×2 (1+62) = 63×63 = 3969
R.H.S. = 169+171+173+175+…….+209
Here, a = 169, d = 171-169 = 2 and n-th term = 209
Now,
a+(n-1)d = n-th term
Or, 169+(n-1)2= 209
Or, 2(n-1) = 209-169 = 40
Or, n-1 = 20 [Dividing both sides by 2] Or, n = 20 +1 n = 21
Sum of 21 = {2×169+(21-1)×2} = ×2 (169+20) = 21×189 = 3969

Solution:
After paying tax, remaining amount = Tk. (100,000- 20% of 100,000) = Tk. 80,000
Let, she invest Tk. 50000 at x% interest and another Tk. 30,000 at (x-1)% interest.
According to the question,
x% of 50,000 + (x-1)% of 30,000 = 6100
Or, 500x +300(x-1) = 6100
Or, 500x+300x-300 = 6100 Or, 800x = 6400 x= =8
So, lower interest rate = (8-1)% = 7% (Ans.)

Volume of hemisphere = of volume of sphere = of πr3 = πr3
Volume of cone = πr2h = πr3 [ h = r]
Ratio of volume of hemisphere and cone = πr3 : πr3 = 2:1 (Ans.)

1. Find the three digit prime number whose sum of the digits is 11 and each digit
representing a prime number. Justify your answer. [BDBL SO 18, Rupali Cash (Cancelled) 18]
Alternative method:
Given that, the sum of three prime numbers is 11.
Prime number is a number which is only divisible by 1 and itself.
Prime numbers up to 11 are 2, 3, 5 and 7.
So, 5+3+3 = 11, from the three prime numbers we get three different three digit numbers
like 533, 335 and 353.
Here, 533 is divisible by 13, so it is not a prime number and 335 is divisible by 5, so it is
also not a prime number.
But 353 is a prime number, because it has only two factors that are 1 and 353.
Ans: 353.

Solution:
Let, length be x meters and breadth be y meters.
So, area = xy sq. m.
1st condition,
xy = 7200 …. (i)
2nd condition,
x(y-3) = 7200 – 576 Or, xy – 3x = 6624 Or, 7200 -3x = 6624 [equation (i)]
Or, 7200-6624 = 3x Or, 576 = 3x ∴ x = 192
Putting the value of x in equation (i)
192y = 7200 ∴ y = 37.5
∴ The breadth of the house = 37.5 meters. (Ans.)

Solution:
In cyclic parallelogram ABCD, D C
Sum of opposite angles of cyclic quadrilateral is 180o
A + C = 180o ....(i)
90o
Again, opposite angles of parallelogram are equal. B
A = C .....(ii) A
From equation (i) and (ii)
A + A = 180o Or, 2 A = 180o ∴ A = 90o
∴ A = C = 90o Similarly, B = D = 90o
∴ A = B = C = D = 90o
∴ Cyclic parallelogram ABCD is rectangle. (Proved)

Solution:
Let, the initial price of a pencil and an erase be Tk. x and Tk. y respectively.
1st condition,
5x + 6y = 80 …… (i)
At 20% increase, new price of each pencil = 120% of x = Tk. 1.2x
2nd condition,
2×1.2x + 3y = 39
2.4x + 3y = 39 …… (ii)
Now, (i)-(ii)×2 =>
5x – 2.4x×2 = 80- 39×2 Or, 5x – 4.8x = 2
Or, 0.2x = 2 x = 10
New price of each pencil = Tk. (1.2 ×10) = Tk. 12 (Ans.)

A invested Tk. 2500 more in the business and 7 months after, total profit Tk. 980.
Find the share of each. [BKB Cash 18]
Solution:
Total duration = (8+7) months = 15 months.
In 15 months,
Equivalent amount of A = Tk. (3000×8+5500×7) = Tk. 62500
Equivalent amount of B = Tk. (4000×15) = Tk. 60000
Profit distributes according to investment ratio.
Investment ratio, A: B = 62500: 60000 = 25: 24
Sum of the ratios = 25+24 = 49.
A’s profit = ×980 = Tk. 500 and B’s profit = ×980 = Tk. 480

Solution:
Let, price of each Chair = c and price of each Table = t.
According to the question,
3t+5c = 2000 ….. (i)

Putting the value of t in equation (i)
3×500 + 5c = 2000
Or, 1500 + 5c = 2000 Or, 5c = 2000-1500 = 500 c = 100

4. Find the maximum value of z = 6x+2y, subject to the conditions x0, y0, x+y = 5,
x≤2, y≤4. [BB Officer 18]
Solution:
Given that, z = 6x+2y and x0, y0, x+y = 5, x≤2, y≤4.
According to the condition x0 and x≤2; value of x can be 1 and 2
According to the condition y0 and y≤4; value of y can be 4 and 3
If x= 1 and y = 4 then z = 6×1+2×4 = 14 [x+y = 1+4 = 5]
Again, if x = 2 and y = 3 then z = 6×2+2×3= 18 [x+y = 2+3 = 5]
Maximum value of z = 18 (Ans.)
