CONCEPT NOTES
Chapter I consists of the overview discussion of the problem by citing some phrases and sentences from published
materials relevant to the study. This gives the reader general idea and impression as well as motivation of the study. Some
researchers integrate related studies, related literatures and legal bases in this Chapter.
After thorough presentation of the background of the study, there are seven (7) subtopics in this Chapter which are as
follows:
1. Statement of the problem
2. Hypotheses
3. Theoretical/Conceptual Framework
4. Significance of the Study
5. Scope and Limitation of the Study
6. Definition of Key Terms
7. General Organization and Coverage of the Study.

Statement of the Problem

A Statement of the Problem is a concise of an issue to be addressed or a condition to be improved upon. It identifies the gap
between the current state and desired state of a process or product. Basically, the Statement of the Problem are the questions you try
to answer.  The illustration of the statement of the problem is as follows:
Suppose the researcher wishes to conduct a study on the utilization of Fish Offal from the Milkfish, Goatfish and Siganid. The
statement of the problem is as follows:

The main problem signifies your main topic. The sub-problems are the test you will need to do which clarifies the needed data to
be measured. Hence, in the example, the acceptability of the quality, protein and calcium content are the Dependent Variable
and the burger patty from Milkfish, Goatfish and Siganid Offal are the independent variables.
Activity: Formulate your own Statement of the Problem using the topic/problem you have from the previous activity.

Topic: (Your previous problem from previous activity) What
