UNDERHUNG SCAFFOLDS

 A scaffold that is suspended by scaffold tube and load


bearing couplers to an overhead structure
 It has a working platform that cannot be raised or lowered

Criteria for underhang scaffold


 All underhung scaffolds shall be hung from structures
capable of supporting at least 4 times the load imposed
on them by scaffold
 A guardrail system shall be provided

• Suspension points of hanger tubes shall be


securely fixed
• Hanger tubes are coupled to two horizontal
tubes
• The first horizontal tube placed across the top
of a supporting beam and second horizontal
tube shall be attached underneath of
supporting beam with a pair of girder coupler
• Both horizontal tubes shall be attached to the
hanger tube with right angle coupler
• Check couplers shall be installed at tops and
bottoms of all hanger tubes.

 Runners(ledger) and bearer(transom) shall be coupled to


hanger tube using right angle coupler
 Hanger tube spacing shall be given based on load rating
 At least one board bearer (intermediate transom) shall be
installed when hanger tube spacing more than 1.5 meter
apart in longitudinal direction
 Only drop forged girder couplers shall be used for the
support of hanging scaffold pressed girder coupler shall not
be used for the support of hanging tube
