Why? Whose opinions do you question? Why?
Directions: Read the paragraph below, then answer the questions asked.
The jellyfish is a poisonous creature that lives in the Pacific Ocean. It does not stay in one
place; it floats all around. I’m very much afraid of being stung by a jellyfish. It hurts! The
jellyfish stings with its long tentacles which hang down from its body. The only way to protect
yourself from being stung is to wear a suit over your entire body. I would rather see a large shark
than a jellyfish swimming near me!

What Is It
What is an opinion?
An opinion refers to a personal belief. It relates to how someone feels about
something. Others may agree or disagree with an opinion, but they cannot prove or
disprove it.
What is an evidence?
An evidence is anything that you see, experience, read, or are told that causes
you to believe that something is true or has really happened. An evidence is an
information that comes closest to the facts of a matter.
Why should opinions be supported with evidence?
Strong opinions may offend the reader, who may feel differently about the issue
or have a personal connection to the opposing views. Opinions without supporting
evidence can compromise the strength and perceived validity of the paper's argument
because such opinions may overshadow other trustworthy evidences.

Sunshine Diner is the best place to have breakfast in this town. First, their
restaurant is clean and orderly. You never see fingerprints on the plates or
glasses like in some other establishments. Second, the wait staff is super
friendly. Every time I go there for breakfast, I get a smiling waiter or waitress who
is happy to see me. Finally, the food is phenomenal! Their eggs are also cooked
just the way I ordered them and their pancakes are the fluffiest around. You
should definitely try Sunshine Diner the next time you desire a grand breakfast!
