PREPARING PAPER INDUSTRY TOWARDS GREEN MANUFACTURING

In the present global scenario, balancing of environment, resources and population are major
challenges. Environment is crucial and change in climate with every moment is leading to the imbalance
of the earth. The main area is to minimize the damage done by the industries to the environment. There is
a need of new manufacturing process i.e. Green Manufacturing which is essential for sustainable
development.
The cost of energy and resources are constantly increasing due to rising demand and limited supply.
Furthermore, price trends can hardly be forecasted, so companies aim to successfully produce within
large price ranges of energy and resources. One strategy to accommodate price uctuations consists of
passing mark ups to the customer. However, a price mark-up may require improvements to be made to
the product. Alternatively, stable prices may be facilitated with increased production efficiency, which
can be achieved by reducing resource consumption and improving the organization of the
manufacturing system. 'It has been seen that a lot of energy is being used by industry in general on day
by day basis and lots of waste is available, the waste are hazardous and can lead the human being to a
termination point. Toxic hazards are crucial for human being survival.
Industry need to ensure that all the waste should be reduced and the methodology of green
manufacturing should be applied. The implementation of Green Manufacturing is not only good for the
environment — it is often good business, as well. The same is often true for other efforts to reduce the
energy- and material-intensiveness of manufacturing processes; what is good for the environment is
typically good for the balance sheet as well.
1. With responsible sourcing and sustainable manufacturing processes, paper is an invaluable
material that answers to the needs of a future circular economy.
2. Compared to other industries, paper manufacturing has great potential to be truly sustainable
and ecological. The paper industry is a highly certi ed industry, with a fully renewable raw
material and a circular product, using renewable raw material to produce a
recyclable product. The industry itself is also decoupling: the direct link
between production and impact has been broken, meaning that
more production no longer means more impact.
3. Indian paper mills produce over 80% paper from recyclable (waste paper)
material. Over 7 % paper is made from Agro waste and for balance paper the
industry no longer depends on forests and instead have gone for social forestry.
For each tree that is cut 5 new trees are planted
IPPTA's earnest effort to reconcile the business viability with the environmental
sustainability, in the light of ongoing climate change debates worldwide and increasing
normative pressure from authorities in India, is vindicated by increasing thrust on clean and green
practices and technology in its seminars and conferences.
This seminar focuses on green manufacturing to keep pace with time and turning industry to be fully
environment friendly and adopting practices in line with COP 26. So, let's think ahead of time and
participate in such an important conference to save GENERATION NEXT.
IPPTA has therefore evaluated the need for a seminar to share knowledge on this topic of Green
Manufacturing that could bene t the industry in terms of adopting new technologies, improving existing
