TEP 1 ELEC TEACHING MULTIGRADE CLASSES

1. What was the topic all about?

The topic was all about Module 3 Multigrade Teaching and Module 4 What is not a
Multigrade classroom.

2. What surprised you with this topic, and why?

I was surprised about multigrade classrooms are considered in most cases as a

“necessary evil”. In relating this in the situation in the schools in the Philippines
especially in the far flung areas. The government has only implemented this program
just to let the people see that the government has steps and solutions in the lacking
of facilities and manpower in the educational system. But if you dig dipper the
support from that schools especially having multigrade classes have minimal support
indeed the program is implemented but the tools and the resources in far flung
schools is very limited. My point is the government must not just implement a
program it should be ready to support and fulfill the needs of that program to avoid
difficulties.

3. What’s the most important to you learned in this lesson? Why do you think so?

The important lesson that I learned in this module is it further discussed about the
multigrade teaching and classroom. It helps me to understand more about the topic
enabling me to realize and thinking about teaching in a far flung areas. Which the
situation is dire and you have to think ahead and make strategies to help the
learners that is diverse and find a way to let them have the knowledge that must be
supplemented to them.

4. What do you want to learn more about, and why?

I want to learn more about the situations about the multigrade classes here in the
Philippines. Because I can observe and make some an analysis on how to manage a
multigrade class, what to do in order to teach the learners, and the teaching
strategies that I should provide in the class.

5. What can/should you do with what you have learned in this lesson?

The lessons that I learned in this module will serve as my guide in being a teacher
someday. If I have to handle this class I will not be shocked because this was taught
by the teacher and I just want to help myself to be more capable and resilient
teacher someday.
