Proper engine combustion requires a consistent source of clean, non-toxic air, commonly
provided through an inlet louver/ventilation system. Airflow is directed into the engine’s air
inlet through Clarke’s standard air cleaner designed to filter out air impurities to ensure
your Clarke fire pump driver will receive a clean source of air.

In areas with greater air impurities, the optional single and two stage air cleaners may
be a better alternative.

Single stage air cleaners filter impurities through a primary filter element (rated
at 85%) without the use of a pre-cleaner. Two Stage air cleaners, use the same
primary filter element as the single stage air cleaner, but incorporates the use of
a pre-cleaner used to remove 98% of containments in the air before being sent
to the primary filter.

AIR CLEANER COMPARISON

STANDARD AIR CLEANER
Clarke’s standard air cleaner is recommended for indoor applications with minimal air impurities.
The standard air cleaner is to be used strictly for indoor installations, but has a drip shield to
prevent water from entering the air inlet through a possible discharge of the pump room’s
sprinkler system. The standard air cleaner should be replaced on an annual basis to ensure
maximum air flow efficiency.

The standard air cleaner does not include an option for an air differential indicator, gauge or an
alarm signal.

SINGLE STAGE AIR CLEANER

Clarke’s optional UL/FM approved single stage air cleaner is designed for light dust environments
and applications located in, but not limited to, tropical environments. An example of this
application would be a pump room located in a coastal region.

The air cleaner filter is disposable and should be replaced on an annual basis. In order for
proper usage, the air cleaner filter must be completely enclosed in the steel housing mounted
on the engine. An air differential indicator is included standard with the single stage air cleaner.
An optional remote mounted air differential gauge and alarm signal is available.

TWO STAGE AIR CLEANER

Clarke’s optional UL/FM approved two stage or dual stage air cleaner is designed for medium
to heavy duty dusty environments. An example of these applications would be a pump room
located in a desert region, or other climates with heavy air impurities.

The air cleaner filter is disposable and should be replaced annually. In order for proper usage,
the air cleaner filter must be completely enclosed in the plastic housing mounted on the engine.
An air differential indicator is included standard with the dual stage air cleaner. A remote
mounted air differential gauge and alarm is available.
