Sime Darby is embarking on a human resource (HR) transformation journey to streamline and
simplify over 100 processes and systems at the group level. With operations across the Asia Pacific
region and a workforce of approximately 22,000 employees, the multinational needs an agile,
holistic HR system that provides a complete overview of employee data and transactions anytime,
and from anywhere to support its global growth strategy. The organisation was looking for a
solution to replace complex legacy systems and provide real-time data to help enable efficient
decision-making.
Employees are now able to easily access multiple HR systems and functions, including leave
applications, pay slips, and online learning courses from the convenience of their personal mobile
devices or laptops. In addition, managers can leverage real-time data analytics to make smarter,
more informed decisions regarding talent management. As an organisation that always puts its
employees first, Sime Darby has set out to effectively transform its human capital systems through
a phased approach that strives to enable a better employee experience as part of a positively
engaged workforce.
“Our employees are our greatest asset, and we recognise that HR transformation is a key tenet of
our digital transformation journey in order to stay competitive and relevant amid a dynamic
business landscape,” said Roselaini Faiz, Group Chief Human Resources Officer at Sime Darby.
“As we continue to deliver on our five-year Value Creation Plan, we are excited to be partnering
with Workday to enhance our employee experience and improve HR processes at an enterprise-
wide level. With the power of technology, we strive to create a collaborative and immersive
organisational culture where all our employees are empowered to thrive in their roles.”
“Faced with the headwinds of a distributed workforce today, organisations need to build greater
business agility, so they can adapt quickly to unforeseen changes,” said Sandeep Sharma,
President, Asia at Workday. “Workday is proud to be a technology partner for rapidly expanding
businesses such as Sime Darby to elevate its human capital management amid the changing world
of work. With an optimised talent management agenda in place, Sime Darby employees are also
well-equipped to navigate the opportunities and challenges in their transformation to become a
