Of the negative points related to HSM’s auditing approach;

 HSM was not competent enough to conduct the audit as he was conducting audit first time.
 No pre-audit preparations were done by the HSM showing the negative auditing approach.
 HSM previously just conducting the health and safety inspections, not a single audit was
conducted by the HSM.
 Audit team and audit plan was not available with HSM so he was lacking in this aspect for
conducting audit.
 While conducting the audit HSM missed many risks while assessing significant findings.
 During the audit HSM not given the consideration too stress and Hazards arising from use of
display screen equipment.
 Important aspects of the audits overlooked by the HSM due to lack of planning for the audit.

Following are the positive points about HSMs auditing approach;

 During the audit HSM analyzed the documents related to health and safety arrangements such
as risk assessments is the positive approach of conducting an audit.
 While auditing HSM spoke to the workers related to health and safety arrangements on the
workplace and recorded their feedback is also a positive aspect.
 At the end of the audit HSM compiled significant findings of the Audit in in a comprehensive
report.
 After completion of audit HSM concluded that risk assessments and procedures have to be
reviewed and updated.

Based on Scenario

4 (b)

 For the audit director of the company were not showing the interest in plan and scope of the
audit add the top management is it responsible for planning and conducting the audits showing
the negative approach.
 Audit reports must be examined by the directors in order to fulfill requirements of legislation
and standards but as per the scenario no such approach was used by the management.
 Director has the responsibility to review and analyze the audit report but as per the scenario he
was not interested in such things.
 director was not interested in suggestions given by the auditor and also not ensuring whether
the corrective actions are executed or not.
