TASK # 6

 In the given scenario it is observed that being a senior member and

responsible person of the organization MD failed to provide safe
system of work at its workplace as accidents are happening over
there.
 MD thinks that accidents happened due to worker’s error, however
being a responsible person, he should ensure improvement in health
and safety to prevent workplace accidents.
 MD claimed that happening of workplace accidents is not relevant to
health and safety, as he demanded to produce such a report to keep
health and safety irrelevant with respect to workplace accidents.
 MD has hired Health and Safety Manager (HSM) to deal with health
and safety related matters but don’t consider himself responsible in
this regard.
 The MD does not have adequate awareness regarding his roles and
responsibilities in context of maintaining good health and safety
standards in his organization; his all intention is focused on just
business growth.
 It is the responsibility of MD of MSL to provide safe equipment and
machinery at its workplace; as per scenario it is observed that fire
arrangements (fire extinguishers, fire notices and call points) were
ensured at warehouse.
 It is the responsibility of employer to provide first aid arrangements at
its workplace that can be observed in the given scenario.
 Team leaders took responsibility to provide induction trainings
regarding site rules to the workforce.
 Team leaders should include content regarding specific roles and
responsibilities of every individual in the induction training session. As
in case of first aid provision no such designated person is in-charge
to provide first-aid treatment.
 Managers and team leaders must provide instructions regarding job
description of every worker in written form documentation.
 Health and safety Manager has ensured availability of safety
documents at workplace as risk assessments, fire procedures,
guidance documentation regarding workstation assessment,
feedback forms, accident investigation records, training and
inspection records.
 Management has responsibility to conduct fire drills at workplace but
no significant consideration executed by management in this regard.
 As risk assessment must be conducted with collective approach and
effort of whole team but in MSL the risk assessment is conducted by
sole effort of HSM.
 SM observed poor posture of the workers that are working from
home, and he shows commitment towards wellbeing of these
workers; that is a good positive approach by SM.
 SM used to conduct online one to one meeting with workers twice in
a week; and notices their work performance; reducing communication
gap between them.
 HSM has conducted audit six months ago that shows his commitment
towards health and safety is also a positive factor.
 Directors should review overall working conditions at MSL and review
findings of audit and make positive changes in procedures
accordingly for betterment of health and safety at MSL.
 The HSM should be competent and experienced enough to conduct
audits but it was his first experience so there could be some
loopholes in his first attempt of auditing at MSL.
 The use of Display Screen Equipment needs proper risk assessment
in place for the workers that are working from home, so this aspect
must be considered by the MD.
 After moving to new site, management should provide trainings
regarding new site layout and rules to its workers but management
failed to provide trainings in this regard.
 Provision of muster point locations by MD is a positive approach to
deal with emergency situations.
