Task 5:

I will determine and review the first aid provisions at MSL to make sure that they are realistic and
proportionate through following points;

1. First aid facilities must be provided keeping the number of workers in mind and the scenario
shows that there are 1200 workers at MCL, so the first aid facilities must be provided
accordingly.
2. Location of the site also matters a lot and as the MCL is situated on a busy junction and has
excellent access to Motorways, so the first aid facilities must be provided keeping this thing in
mind also.
3. General risk level of the MCL company needs to be evaluated and the first aid facilities must be
provided accordingly.
4. A list of nominated first aiders must be compiled and shared with workers during induction also
to make the arrangements more realistic.
5. As there are different kind of risks present at the warehouse of MCL like Movement of people
and vehicles, ergonomic risks and Load handling, so the first aid provisions must be provided
accordingly.
6. Work pattern at MCL and shift system also needs to be considered and the first aid facilities
must be provided in all working shifts.
7. The accident history also needs to be considered while providing the first aid facilities as the
scenario shows that there were 2 major accidents in last 12 months.
8. First aid kits also need to be provided in sufficient number as the scene shows that there is only
one first kid at near to a desk at one end of the warehouse.
9. As the team leaders and managers have already received first aid training but there should some
other first aiders selected among the drivers, order pickers and sales team also to cover their
respective domains.
10. First aid trainings need to be provided regularly keeping the staff turnover rate in mind but
training records shows that no training has been conducted since new site move.
11. As the MCL is basically a distribution company which include distribution drivers, so the first aid
facilities and first aid kits must also be provided in the vehicles.
12. Sales team and other workers working from home must also be considered to be covered in the
first aid provision as they are also part of MCL team.
13. The first aid facilities are realistic when size and spread of organization is considered and as the
MCL company operates across the Europe and is a big company, so the first aid facilities must
also be provided as per size and spread.
14. Nature of the work should be considered while providing the first aid facilities as the MCL
company procure, store and distribute pharmaceutical products.
15. As many of the workers have to travel different areas while distributing the products, so
remoteness from hospitals should also be considered.
16. Refresher first aider trainings are also required for already trained personnels and it needs to be
decided that who needs FAW and EFAW trainings.
