CONTRAST:

•Human eye built to comprehend a great diversity of visual phenomenon


simultaneously.

•Lack of it causes visual tiredness and lack of concentration.

•Feelings of monotony and depression will arise.

•On the other hand too much diversity also causes confusion and chaos
in visual perception.
•Hence Contrast can be defined as that optimum diversity in a visual
composition that retains attention and interest without appearing
confusing and chaotic.

•Contrast in design is an accentuation of the differences between


elements in a design.

•Hence contrast is the means of creating interest.

•The quantum of diversity that may form optimum varies according to


culture and habits of the observer.
•In Architecture, Contrast can be of many kinds.
