some of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth.

Maria: They are some of the most diverse ecosystems on earth. Coral reefs are home to 25% of
marine creatures, they provide protection to underwater organisms which is why we humans
need to be careful and gentle when doing underwater activities.

Star: Even if it’s just the bare minimum, we can all help conserve the coral reef’s beauty. There
are some different ways to help. Here are some examples:

Kendra: Swimming responsibly, avoid touching reefs.

Nathaniel: Avoid littering. Leaving garbage in water can suffocate and/or trap fish.

Brent: Conserve water. The less water used, the less wastewater that will find it’s way back to
the ocean.

Star: We should protect coral reefs because they provide important ecosystems for life in the
ocean.

Maria: In coral reefs, there are also biotic and abiotic factors.

Nathaniel: The biotic factors include: plants, sea animals, and microbes.

Jayden: And the abiotic factors include: sunlight, temperature, and oxygen.

Kendra: Coral reefs add beauty to the ocean so let’s conserve it and spread awareness.
