Traditional Holiday

In Vietnam, we have many traditional holidays, One of the most typical traditional holidays in
Vietnam is the Lunar New Year, also known as Tet.
The dates of the Lunar New Year differ every year but it generally takes place around late January or
February. According to the lunar calendar, the Tet holiday usually lasts from December 29 to the end
of the 3rd month.
During the Lunar New Year, people will usually gather at home to reunite after a hard year. The
spring weather of the Tet holiday is very beautiful and comfortable, so every family on this occasion
often has activities such as decorating the house, going on a spring trip, visiting relatives, and going
to the grave; especially, children on these days often receive lucky money and wear new clothes.
In addition, Tet in Vietnam is also famous for many traditional dishes such as banh chung, banh day,
banh tet, mut, melon seeds, xoi, gio, cha, etc. Things that highlight the characteristics of Tet. Besides,
the costumes of Vietnamese people on Tet holiday are quite diverse, but the traditional costume is
Ao Dai.
Last but not least are the Lunar new year’s parties, which add to the fun but also be careful with
alcohol if you're going to have to drive after the party.
