DELIVERY ROOM NURSE:

1. Assists patient during the stages of labor.
2. Checks the vital signs, fetal heart beat upon admission and quality of contraction.
3. Gives emotional support to patient and significant others.
4. Assist the obstetrician during examination of the patient and does perineal preparation
aseptically.
5. Prepare instruments, supplies and equipment to be used during each delivery.
6. Do surgical skin preparation depending whether the patient is for caesarean section or
normal spontaneous vaginal delivery.
7. Helps the obstetrician and team in gowning and gloving process.
8. Do legal charting and recording.

Detailed Job Description :

LABOR ROOM NURSE

1. Receives patients from ward or from the ER.

2. Take initial vital signs and fetal heart tone.
3. Monitor progress of labor.
4. Attach patient to fetal monitor if required.
 5. Gives support throughout the labor stage.

NURSERY ROOM NURSE

1. Responsible for the intermediate and special care to infants or newborns.

2. Provided special care like supplemental oxygen, specialized feeding, intravenous etc.
3. Performed the diagnosis, treatment and intensive care of infants in first few months of
their life.
4. Assessed infant's health problems and concern.
5. Developed and implemented the nursing care plans and strategies.
6. Maintained and keep a track record of the infant's information.
7. Handles the queries and problems of the infant's parents regarding their baby’s health
care.
8. Responsible for the checkups, diagnosis, treatment, vaccination and medication of
children.
