HUMAN BODY REGULATION

- Hormones are chemical messengers, carrying information to cells to change their activities.
- Hormones are produced by the glands of the endocrine system.
-Together with the nervous system, the endocrine system functions o keep all parts of the body
running smoothly.
- A gland is an organ whose cells secrete materials to be brought to the different regions of the body.
- Endo means “within”
- krinein means “ separate “
-Endocrine glands are ductless glands that secrete hormones directly into their bloodstream or the
fluid around the cells (extracellular fluid).
- The Endocrine system coordinates all of the body’s sources of hormones.
- Pancreas are both endocrine and exocrine.
- Exo means”outward”
- Exocrine glands deliver substance through ducts.
- The exocrine function of the pancreas is to produce digestive enzymes and deliver them to the small
intestine through the pancreatic duct.
-The Endocrine function of the pancreas, on the other hand, is to secrete two hormones into the
bloodstream to regulate the glucose concentration in the blood.
- Hormones are involved in coordinating the activities that the endocrine system carries out to keep
your body functioning properly.
