Signature Pad Setup QRG
For Chrome and Internet Explorer on Windows PCs
CareLogic users must install new signature pad drivers for ePad devices.

All users of ePad Signature Pads must install these new drivers, regardless if they will be using 
Internet Explorer or Chrome going forward. 

This Quick Reference Guide will assist users with the following activities:
• Manual ePad Signature Pad Setup on an Individual PC
• Automatic Setup with Group Policy on Multiple PCs

Manual ePad Signature Pad Setup on an Individual PC
Downloading the Installer
To simplify the installation, we have provided an installer package that will uninstall the previous 
versions of the drivers and reinstall the new one. Download the installer per these instructions:
1. Go to the SFTP Site on secure Qualifacts Servers:
https://sftp.qualifacts.org/file/d/signature_pad_installers/manual_installers/

2. Login with the following user and password:
a. User: sftp_public_pad
b. Password: ASdf097SS

 3. Click file to download it and save it to your PC (downloaded files are usually added to your 
download folder)

4. Open the location of the file, usually your download folder
5. If your browser shows downloaded files in the bottom bar, you can right click the up‐arrow 
and chose Show in folder to open the file location

Install the ePad Drivers

This step must be done by all ePad users, regardless if the Internet Explorer or Chrome browser.

1. Unplug the ePad Signature Pad if one is attached to the PC
2. Launch the Setup_ePad.exe file as a PC administrator to install the driver; right click the 
installer file (in the Download folder window from above) and choose Run as administrator.

 3. The Installer starts, click Install to continue

4. The Installer will open a command window and then display Completing the Setup_ePad 
Setup Wizard ‐ it is OK to click Finish now, the command window will continue to run

5. Press any key to continue with the uninstall of the previous ePad driver

 6. The installer removed the previous version, then Press any key to continue with the install of 
the new ePad driver

Some users may see a red warning message in the command window. This is caused when the 
uninstaller cannot find a certain previous version in the package. If you do not see the warning, it 
is because that package was never installed on the PC. This warning can be ignored.

Regardless if you see the warning, Press any key to continue with the installation.

7. If the installer detects any previous components from previous installations, it will display the 
upgrade confirmation, click Yes to continue

Not all users will receive the above warning popup

8. The ePadLink driver installer starts

 9. At the welcome screen, Click Next

10.If you received the warning in step 7, step 11‐14 will be skipped, please proceed to step 15

If the PC had a previous version of the ePad driver installed, the installer will use the setup infor‐
mation to continue and skip steps 11‐14

11.Accept the License Agreement and click Next

 12.Enter a User Name and Company Name (you may enter anything), select Anyone who uses 
this computer (all Users), then click Next

13.Choose Typical, click Next

14.Click Install to complete the installation

 15.Plug the ePad Signature Pad into the USB port of the PC when prompted and click OK

16.The installer will run and update the driver

17.Click Finish when the installation is complete, a PC reboot is not necessary

 18.The SigWebCapture driver will be installed next, Press any key to continue the installation

19.Click Next to install the SigWebCapture driver

20.Click Yes to accept the License Agreement

 21.Enter the User Name and Company Name and click Next

22.Accept the default installation location by clicking Next

23.Click Finish to complete the installation

Run IE as Administrator to Add the Signature Control
In order for all users to add an external signature using IE, the signature control must be installed 
by an IE user that has administrator privilege. 
1. On your Windows Desktop or in Windows Explorer, find the IE icon
2. Right click the IE icon and choose Run as administrator

3. Login to CareLogic, search for a test client and go to the ECR
4. Navigate to any user service document that contains an external signature, click Click To Sign

5. Click Yes to install the signature ActiveX control when prompted

6. You may now add an external signature in IE with the ePad signature pad

Install the Chrome ePad Browser Extension

This step is required for Chrome browser users only.

Windows Chrome ePad users must install the ePad Chrome browser extension plug‐in, available 
from the Chrome Web Store.

 1. Open a new Chrome tab, and navigate to https://chrome.google.com/webstore/category/
extensions
2. In the Chrome Web Store, search for epadlink sigcaptureweb sdk
3. Next, click Add to Chrome to install the extension into your Chrome browser

Automatic Setup with Group Policy on Multiple PCs
System Administrators wishing to install the driver to multiple users automatically using Active 
Directory Policy using a Group Policy Object (GPO) can follow these instructions:
• ePad Driver Installation via GPO (all users)
• ePad SigWebCapture Driver GPO (all users)
• ePad Chrome Browser Extension Installation via GPO (Chrome users only)

While CareLogic has not yet been certified to run on Chrome at this time, System Administrators 
may proceed with the Chrome ePad setup in preparation for Multi Browser General Availability.
