CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

1.1 Background of the Paper

The development of digitalization that occurs in this modern era also has an impact on competition
in the business world which is becoming increasingly stringent. This is evidenced by the increasing number of
competitors emerging in the service or manufacturing sector. Responding to the growth of competition,
every company is required to develop its strategy. One way to determine the right strategy is to make
changes for the better through measuring and improving the performance that has been carried out by the
organization within a certain period.1 Measuring employee performance is needed so that the company can
evaluate and improve the existing and current system. Along with these problems, in this paper it is
necessary to discuss performance appraisal methods, namely Key Performance Indicator (KPI) and Objective
and Key Results (OKR) as well as Change Management and problem-solving principles "MECE". These three
information are important in providing input for the company in developing strategies to make changes for
the better.
