Introduction

“Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country.”
(John F. Kennedy) The importance of civic duty is constantly emphasised by this quote from
the 35th President of the United States. Civic-mindedness is defined as a behaviour, pursuits,
or people who are motivated by or demonstrate concern for the public good or the welfare of
humankind. It is argued that Malaysians today frequently struggle with a lack of civic
consciousness. I wholeheartedly concur with this statement. Inadequate education, a lack of
public awareness, and an individualistic mentality are to blame for Malaysia’s absence of
civic mindedness.

Conclusion

To conclude, a lack of civic mindedness and respect for property will ultimately lead to
the destruction of the country. Therefore, having excellent manners is crucial in life because
without them, people in this world would be unable to interact with one another. Altogether,
each individual has a duty to enhance their nation’s reputation, in addition to the government.
Everyone is not born with excellent manners and civility. Therefore, we should all learn how
to be responsible citizens.
