STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE


Security Policy

1. AIT is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and secure environment for all
students, employees, contractors, and visitors.
2. To help achieve and maintain such an environment, comprehensive safety
and security plans and programs are maintained under the guidance of the
Director, by security department.
3. The Institute takes all reasonable measures to prevent life-safety incidents
and risks to the safety and security of persons and property.
4. This includes identifying any conditions or circumstances that may
compromise the safety and security of the Institute, and preparing the Institute
to respond effectively to threats and other emergencies.
5. All members of the AIT and visitors are responsible for conducting themselves
in a manner that does not put in danger themselves or others, or cause a risk
to Institute facilities, equipment, other physical assets, or other persons’
property. All members of the AIT, visitors and contractors, are responsible for
complying with this policy.
Application of this Policy
6. This policy applies to all AIT students, employees, contractors, and other
persons who visit Institute grounds, buildings, or other facilities.

7. Roles and responsibilities


a. Role of the Head of Institution
The Head of institution will be responsible for implementing the security
policy agreed by the Board. The head of institution will ensure:

i. The staff appreciates the importance of security and


understand the policy and their responsibilities.

ii. Staff training needs are kept under review and


training as necessary.

iii. Parents are informed of the security policy and


encouraged to help.

iv. Formal risk assessments are conducted by an outside


body and updated on a regular basis. The last risk
assessment was carried out in Month/Year and will be
updated Month/Year.

v. Routine security checks are carried out on an on-


going basis by the caretaker.

vi. Timely reports are made to the Director

vii. All crimes are reported to the Police.

b. Role of Security Supervisor:


Security supervisor is responsible for security of whole camp and will:

i. Ensure that nobody can come inside the camp without


proper verification.
ii. Ensure that visitor coming to the camp must wear
visitor’s card, to be taken from security check posts
after depositing the CNIC.
iii. Ensure the nothing (equipment/material) is going
outside without the gate pass, signed by the
competent authority.
iv. Report any bad happening or security lacks to the
Director immediately.
c. Staff:
i. Incharge of each section is responsible for security of
his/her section including all equipments.

ii. Each staff member must ensure that everything which


is in his/her custody is safe and secure while leaving
the workplace.

iii. Staff to contact the office or senior staff in an


emergency.

iv. Staff to have meetings with parents in the Conference


Room or on the benches outside the office.

v. Staff to “sign out” equipment which is taken home,


e.g. laptop etc.

vi. All staff must challenge visitors who are not wearing a
visitor’s card.

d. Visitors:
i. All visitors, including contractors, to come to main
office entrance, report to security check point, sign in
the visitors’ book and wear a visitor’s card.
ii. All parents to make an appointment to meet with a
member of staff. To follow the same procedure as
above.

iii. All other services based in the institute must sign in at


the office.

iv. Parents to be reminded of the security strategies on a


regular basis through letters written by the Principal.

v. All staff must ensure that the people trying to gain


entry to the institute should enter via the office. They
should not gain entry through the car park area.
