Punla Ko, Kabuhayan Niyo: A Project Proposal Enhancing the

Livelihood of Farmers through Seminar and Farming in Brgy. Calantas,
Tayabas City

II. Introduction

The majority of Filipinos make their living through farming. One-half of

our entire land area is made up of farms. On our fertile soil, farmers toil. They
are persistent and diligent. On the nation, farming villages can be located in
plains, valleys, and at the base of mountains. In the Philippines, there are farms
that grow fruits and vegetables as well as crops including rice, corn, tobacco,
coconut, and abaca. On the farms, there is also livestock including chickens,
turkeys, goats, and carabaos (

About 40% of Filipino employees are employed in it, and it generates

20% of the country's GDP on average. Agribusiness, which accounts for over
70% of all agricultural output, is the primary source of this output (CIDA-LGSP,
2003). Crop cultivation is the primary agricultural activity. Others include hog
farming (18.4%), agricultural services (19.8%), and chicken broiler production,
which includes running chicken hatcheries (20.4%). (NSO, 2002).
