PROJECT PROPOSAL

I. PROJECT PROFILE

A. Project Title: FOOD SAFETY PROGRAM FOR THE INDIGENOUS

PEOPLE OF BUGABUNGAN UPI, MAGUINDANAO

B. Proponents: OLVIDO, MARIA ALEXIS DUAN A.

C. Implementing Unit: THE PROPENENT, BARANGGAY OFFICIALS OF

BUGABUNGAN UPI, MAGUINDANAO.

D. Project Site: BUGABUNGAN UPI, MAGUINDANAO

E. Project Duration: SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER 2021

F. Project Total Cost: 20,000 PESOS

G. Summary:

The food safety program for the indigenous people will give

knowledge the target participant about the proper way of storing

food, the benefit of food safety, the effect of bad food safety and

the factors affecting their food safety.

II. PROJECT PROPOSAL PROPER

A. Rationale:

Food is one of the essential in human health and some situation

food pose a threat and become harmful in human. Food becomes

harmful to human body when it is contaminated and combined with

viruses, molds or even chemical toxin. Some factors that involves


threat are cause by inappropriate agricultural practices, poor hygiene,

lack of preventive control during processing and preparing the food,

also the food and water inappropriate storage. The places where

people leave are also one of the factors in making the food harmful in

human health. Some people leave in place where technology and

electricity are not available are one of the biggest problem when it

comes into food safety.

However, food safety program can help people to become more

knowledgeable how to properly store the food they have also this

program is concern with how to protect the food supply from arising

some potentially harmful microbes and chemical agent. Food safety

has a big role in human growth especially when it comes to children.

When food is unsafe children cannot learn and their development

cannot take place.

Indigenous children that are leaving in places where there are

no electricity and technology are in the high risk of affecting the growth

and development because of the way they store their food. Indigenous

people sometimes lack of knowledge about how food can affect the

growth of individual as long as they can eat they don’t mind how their

food can affect their health, especially to their children. By this program

they can learn a lot about food safety and they can prevent the

malnutrition in their community.

B. Project Description

a. The proponent will start working with the project by getting an

approval from the barangay chairman about the project proposal.


The content of the letter is seeking the permission to conduct the

program, the accommodation, seeking help and assistance in

conducting also asking for a speaker to educate the indigenous

people about food safety.

b. After the approval of the barangay chairman, the proponent and

some of the barangay official will going to the area of the

indigenous people to see what was the factor affecting their food

safety, doing survey on how many participants will be expected to

attend in the program.

c. After the surveying the area, the proponent along with the barangay

officials will plan on what to do during the program. There will be

five session (5 days duration). In every session there are 50

persons because the covered hall of the barangay only

accommodates 50 people because of the public health protocol.

d. After planning the program the proponent will raise a fund for the

program.

e. After a month of the program, the proponent of the proposal and

some of the barangay officials will visit again the area, to evaluate if

the participants of the program really implement what they learn.

C. Objectives

1. To educate the indigenous people of Bugabungan Upi,

Maguindanao about food safety

2. To practice in their own houses what will they going learn in food

safety program.
3. To prevent the growth of malnutrition in the community of indigenous

people of Bugabungan Upi, Maguindanao.

4. To become aware about what is the importance of food safety in the

health of people especially children.

D. Significance

This project the “Food Safety Program” will become a big help to the

indigenous people of Bugabungan Upi, Maguindanao to become aware

about the effect of not practicing the standard safety of the food to the

development and health of their children. Considering that the place

where they living is far away from the advancement of way of living

they need the extra attention to fight the development and from arising

of the malnutrition in their community. This program also helps the

barangay to lessen the number of reported malnourish children and to

become the community of indigenous people healthy.

E. Resources

1. Personnel- the project will needing the assistance of the barangay

officials of Bugabungan Upi, Maguindanao. A speaker with the

knowledge about the food safety.

2. Equipment/ facilities- the following are the equipment needed in this


project:
- Chairs
- Covered hall
- Projector
- Flyers
- Lunch packs
F. Project components/ strategies of implementation

Activities Implementation

barangay chairman.
2. Surveying the area of - To know the problem of the

there will be a food safety program for

the Indigenous people.


3. Fundraising The proponent will make a solicitation

to raise fund for the program, this is to

seek financial support so that the

project proposal will be implemented.


4. Planning the program After the approval, survey, distributing

information about the program and

the fundraising and proponent and the

barangay officials will plan the event.

They’re going to schedule how many

people will going to attend in the first

session because the duration of the

program is 5 days.
5. Program The speaker will going to teach and

6. Checking the outcome After a month of conducting the

program the barangay officials will

going to visit the community of

indigenous people to evacuate if they

implemented what they have learned

in the program and to see what was

the changes of their way of storing

foods to become their food not prone

to microbes.

I. Conclusion

The benefits of adopting this proposal are: community that

cannot reach electricity, and hard to find store to buy foods can have

the idea how to properly store their food to become their food safe to

consume by their families. Another benefit of this project is that the

participant can have the knowledge on how prevent the growth of food-

borne illnesses in their community and the malnutrition among the

children in their communities.


The possible risks of this project are; when the project site has a

highest risk of COVID 19 pandemic the proponent cannot go on with

the program. But in this project the project site of the proponent had a

low risk of COVID 19 and the LGU of Upi gives permission on this kind

of activities to make the people of the municipality of Upi become more

knowledgeable.
