The Department of Education required every school to establish a


productive and successful vegetable garden under the Gulayan sa Paaralan
Program. GPP is also in line with the DepEd Memorandum No. 223 series of
2016, entitled “Strengthening the implementation of the GULAYAN SA
PAARALAN PROGRAM (GPP)” to address malnutrition and promote
vegetable production and consumption among the students by providing the
needed vegetables for the School Feeding Program and to ensure the quality
of education. It also aims to boost the awareness of the students on the
significance of growing vegetables. But also, to make it as an income-
generating activity to enhance their skills and talent for agricultural activity
and eventually leads to profit and gain.

RATIONALE The Gulayaan sa Paaralan of San Vicente National High School


promote and sustain the nutrition of malnourished students through the help
of school feeding program and to improve the students’ skills in the field of
agriculture, particularly those who are studying Agricultural Crop Production.
By implementing the Gulayan sa Paaralan it serves as the Laboratory
Facilities, it is beneficial to Agri. Crop Production Students and other related
specialization subject in Grade 7 -12 students. It is viewed as one of practical
and empirical ways of teaching and engaging the students in activities- like
land preparation, sowing of small seeds in a seed box/bed and planting direct
seeds in garden plots, maintenance, pest control and harvesting. It also helps
the school to generate source of funds/ income for the incoming school
project and program in the future. To have a successful implementation of
this program it prescribes the participation and involvement of students,
faculty staffs, parents and other members of the community.
PROJECT OBJECTIVE/S: The target objectives for the project are as follows;
1. Reconstructing the School Greenhouse as Laboratory Facility.
2. Purchasing good variety of vegetable seeds.
3. Putting up trellises for perennial vine plants.
4. Practicing and developing students in planting good varieties of
vegetables plants.
5. Taking care of the vegetable plants.
6. Harvest and sell to support the financial needs of sustainable Gulayan
sa Paaralan
7. Generating source of income or funds for the incoming school project
in the future
8. Maintaining the gulayan sa paaralan as vegetable sources to sustain
school feeding project/program.
