Learning Outcome 1

Prepare nursery tools, farm implements and simple equipment according to

work requirements.

Objective: The learners shall be able to prepare and identify different nursery tools,

farm implements, and simple equipment.

In Agricultural Crop Production the use of farm tools, farm implements and

equipment is indispensable. Small as well as large scale uses necessary tools, farm im-

plements and equipment to help agricultural operation from land preparation to

harvesting.

1. Hand tools- these tools are usually light, one can use them manually, without

the help of machinery or animals. Commonly, they are used for cultivating and clear-

ing small areas or backyard-garden farming.

Examples: bolo, crowbar, pick mattock, spade, shovel, trowel, grab hoe, fork,

rake, axe, sickle and scythe,

2. Farm implements - these are accessories which are being pulled by working

animals or mounted to machineries (hand tractor, tractor) which are usually used in

the preparation of wide land.

- these are usually made of a special kind of metal.

Examples: Plow, cultivators, disc harrow, disc plow and rotavator,

3. Equipment - any kind of machinery used on farm to help with farming.

Examples: Tractor, thresher, corn de husker, miller and harvester

CLOSURE

In our community, most of the farmers who are engaged in large scale

production rely much in modernized farm techniques. In order to do farming

operation successfully, one must have a good and advance knowledge

regarding tools, farm machineries and equipment.

bite my enemies. In smoothing the rough hillocks, I smooth my temper.”
