Written Group report

Adolescent pregnancy is defined as females between the ages of

13-15 who engage in sexual activity and become pregnant either

intentionally or unintentionally . Teenage pregnancy often occur

when teenagers are not under proper guidance of an adult. Teenage

pregnancy can cause the baby to born prematurely with a low

weight, low weight can cause the baby to become anemic. My group

and I found a great interest in this topic because it enlighten us

about what is going on in society with our age group. Teenage

pregnancy affects: education, individuals, society, and families. My

group has three member , we researched the topic : “the effect of

teenage pregnancy on education”, “the effect of teenage pregnancy

on society”, and “the effect of teenage pregnancy on the individual.

In order for my group to complete this SBA (School Base

Assignment) successfully, we all had to carry out a certain process,

procedure and outcome. First our educator explaining to us what is a

SBA and the importance of a SBA. Our educator show us ways to find
our artifact and how to get our necessary information from them.

We when on and research our topics and sub-topic, had discussions,

we had our own diary with our information and artifacts. The group

member found their own artifacts: an audio, a written article and a

video, these consist of information pertaining to our topic and sub-

topic.

Throughout our SBA, we found adequate information from

Kishana Bowen’s written artifact, UBC WIKI (University of British

Columbia Wiki) about “cause and effect of teenage pregnancy”, this

article was written on April 08,2016 at 7:32. This articles tells that

teenage pregnancy are caused by drug ,alcohol, peer pressure, and

sexual abuse. Without an education teenage mother can not provide

for there unborn or born child. The other article is an audio found by

Shanty-lee Mighty, the song name is “teenage pregnancy” by Vybz

Kartel and Gaza Kim this song was published in 2016. This audio

referred to a young lady pregnant and worried about her education

and her parents reaction to her been pregnant and still in high

school. Tyriek Tied found a very interesting video named “

Reintegrating School age Mothers Back Into The School System In

Jamaica” by Dasmine Kennedy in 2018. This video state that about

20,000 girl under that age of 20 are getting pregnant and been kicked

out of school. These individuals face discrimination from pears,

society try to give these young lady another chance at a good

education. The video also state that poverty increase to 10% in 2007

to 20% in 2015.

This assignment was full of challenges, but all my group

members gave a helping hand to make this SBA an achievement. We

all came together to make one because we all had the same goal of

making this assessment a great accomplishment.
