Positive Negative
Singular I get up. Full form Short form
You get up. I do not get up. I don’t get up.
He, she, it gets up. You do not get up. You don’t get up.
Plural We get up. They do not get up. They don’t get up.
You get up. We do not get up. We don’t get up.
They get up. She, he it does not get up. She, he, it doesn’t get up.

I get up at 6 o’ clock in the morning.


She gets up at 6 o’ clock in the morning. Note: He does not know. (Not he does not knows.)

Note: We add -s after he/she/it: 3. Question Statements

I, we, you, they eat breakfast. Questions


He, she, it eats breakfast. Singular Do I/you
get up at 6 o’ clock?
Does she/he/it
If a verb ends in -ch, -o, -sh, or -ss, we add
-es after he/she/it.
Plural Do we
I watch > she watches Do you get up at 6 o’ clock?
You do > he does Do they
They go > it goes
He, she, it eats breakfast.

If a verb ends in a consonant (b, c, d etc.) + y


(e.g. study), we use-ies after he/she/it:
I study > he, she, it studies.
I fly > he, she, it flies. Note:
We put “Do” before I/we/you/they:
Do you/I/you/they get up at 6 o’ clock?

We put “Does” before he/she/it:


Does he/she/it walk?
Note: we say:
Does he walk? ( Not Does he walks?
