Title:  Awit ng Hinirang
 
Synopsis:  Awit Ng Hinirang is a collaboration between Teta Tulay (lyrics) and Lorenzo Gealogo (music,
arrangement). The song was originally conceptualized by the Trainers to commemorate National
Heroes’ Day on August 31. The production has been rescheduled to September 21 as an offering to
mark the 48th anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law in the Philippines in 1972, an event in our
history which catapulted social unrest that eventually led to the People''s Power Revolution in 1986.
The song is a kundiman that questions an “other” (the hero) and oneself, on what it takes to become a
“hero” of one’s own time. The answer eventually unfolds in the end, when the realization on who gets
to be “chosen” or hinirang becomes apparent. There will be an online evaluation form to be released
during the event until the end of day only to ensure real-time participation of the students. After
watching the production, accomplish this form to get credit for CSBLIFE accredited activities.
