INSTRUCTION: Solve each problem correctly showing your complete and neat solution. Be honest class.
Answer what you know.

1. Determine the static fan efficiency if the total fan mechanical is 70 % and air is measured at 25
degree C and 760 mm Hg if the fan draws 1.42 cu. Meter per second at air at a static pressure of
2.54 cm of water through a duct 300 mm diameter and discharges it through a duct of 275 mm
diameter.
2. An industrial fan labelled in a manufacturers data is rated to deliver 500 cubic meter per minute
at a static pressure gage of 254 cm of water when running at 250 rpm and requiring 3.6 kw. If
the fan speed is changed to 305 rpm and the air handled were at 65 degrees C instead of
standard 21 deg. C find the power in kw.
3. Calculate the power output in horsepower of an industrial fan if it draws 90 cubic meter of air
per minute through a duct of 32 cm in diameter with suction of -80 mm of water. The air is
discharged through a duct 24 cm in diameter against a pressure of 60 mm of water. The air is
measured at 20 degrees C and 755 mm Hg.
