Climatic Data Analysis

Sun path
Sun-path refers to the sun's apparent substantial seasonal and hourly
positioning variations as the Earth spins and circles the sun. Understanding
the sun's path is crucial for energy efficiency and environmental protection in
passive building design.
 Importance
The performance of solar energy systems and the heat gain of buildings are both
significantly influenced by the relative position of the Sun. Reduced heating and
cooling loads can be achieved by designing a structure with the sun in mind.
Economic decisions about solar collector area, orientation, landscaping, summer
shading, and the cost-effective use of solar trackers depend on accurate location-
specific knowledge of sun path and climatic conditions.

AZIMUTH LINES

Lines that are around the diagram's edge.

ALTITUDE LINES

Concentric circular dotted lines that radiate outward from the diagram's
center to depict altitude angles.

DATE LINES

Represent the sun's movement on a specific day of the year

and start on the graph's eastern side and run to its western
side.

HOUR LINES/ ANALEMMA

Depict the sun's location at particular times of the day and are displayed as
figure-eight-shaped lines that cross date lines. The sun's location is
determined by the spots where the date and hour lines connect.
Factors that Causes
Change
The Earth's axis' tilt causes seasonal variations. The
Sun's position in the sky changes over time due to the
Earth's rotation, and its route changes depending on
the observer's latitude on the planet due to the
inclination of the Earth's axis and its position in its
orbit.
