The B2 Bomber, also known as the Northrop Grumman B-2 Spirit, is a stealth

strategic bomber aircraft developed by Northrop Grumman for the United States Air
Force. It is a low-observable, strategic, long-range heavy bomber designed to
penetrate complex air-defense systems and deliver both conventional and nuclear
payloads.

The B2 Bomber made its first flight in 1989 and was first used in combat in 1999
during the Kosovo War. The aircraft has a range of over 6,000 nautical miles
without refueling, and it can carry up to 40,000 pounds of ordnance, including
conventional and nuclear weapons.

The B2 Bomber is designed to evade radar detection, and it is equipped with

advanced sensors and avionics to allow it to fly at extremely low altitudes and
navigate through adverse weather conditions. The aircraft is powered by four
General Electric F118-GE-100 engines, and it has a distinctive flying-wing shape
that helps to reduce its radar signature.

The B2 Bomber is one of the most expensive aircraft ever built, with a unit cost of
over $2 billion. As of 2021, the United States Air Force operates a fleet of 20 B2
bombers, which are primarily based at Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri. The B2
Bomber is expected to remain in service until at least 2050.
